Rhea Mae Hubbel and her daughter Jean Copeland shared their 1930’s feed sack collection at the “Christmas in the Country” home tour 2017. Clothing, quilts and fabrics from feed sacks with a variety of prints provided displays at both the Olive Township Museum and the Ottawa Schoolhouse. The collection represented a time when frugal families repurposed sacks into clothing, curtains and quilts and numerous other ways to bring color and fashion to the home. It was a time when economic times called for people to be very resourceful.
“Christmas in the Country” home tour is the first weekend in December every year. The tour includes visiting beautifully decorated homes and the unique museum and historic schoolhouse filled with new exhibits each year.
